CEREMONIES

Renewal of Vows

MAKE AN ENQUIRY

This is a lovely way to mark a landmark anniversary or special birthday, and it’s a great excuse for a party! Most of all, it’s an opportunity to celebrate your continued commitment to each other. Perhaps many years have passed since your first ceremony and you’d like to relive the day. Or it might have been more recent with fewer guests than you’d have liked. Whatever the reason - set a date, book a Registrar Celebrant, get your loved ones together, and we’ll make sure it’s a day to remember!

As the legalities have already been dealt with, we’ll work with you to design a ceremony that reflects where you are now and what you’ve achieved together. We’ll enable you to reaffirm your commitment to each other in a way that suits you: formal or informal, full of music or focussed on the spoken word - the possibilities are endless, and the decisions are yours. You’ll take home a commemorative certificate of your special day.

Bespoke Ceremonies

Hand Fasting Ceremony

With its roots in Celtic ritual and the contemporary concept of ‘tying the knot’, this ceremony symbolizes a union of love and commitment. You join hands while we loop and weave two separate ribbons around your hands, until a knot is formed, and your commitment sealed. You are left with a beautiful visual reminder of the day your lives were joined together.

Love Letters Ceremony

When did you last write love letters to each other? This is your chance. You each write a love letter - there are no rules here, just write what you feel, seal the envelope and entrust it to a friend or parent. During the ceremony, the letters are brought forward to be sealed in a box – perhaps with a bottle of wine and two glasses, setting the scene for the opening of these letters at a future date. Perhaps you’d like your guests to bring written messages to be sealed with your own. It’s up to you when you read these letters: your first anniversary, a future milestone, or - if you can’t wait - on return from honeymoon!

Sand Ceremony

Two lives being joined together is represented beautifully in a Sand Ceremony. As each of you pour the coloured sand from your own vases into one shared glass vase, the different colours combine, symbolising the intimate nature of your partnership. Just as those grains of sand will never be separated again, nor will you. Children can also take part: showing a child their place in your future by asking them to pour sand into the shared vase, will help them understand how important they are. The glass vase creates a visual reminder of your commitment to each other.

Water Ceremony

Highly symbolic, a Water Ceremony is a visual way of expressing how two lives are joined together. As each of you pour your chosen coloured water from your own vases into the shared glass vase, the water combines to create any entirely new colour, symbolising your new union. Just as that water will never be separated again, nor will you. Children can also take part: showing a child their place in your future by asking them to pour water into the shared vase, will help them understand how important they are. The glass vase creates a visual reminder of your commitment to each other.
